The vision of Paguro’s creator Yen Wei is to bring together a collection of the world’s finest upcycled products, focusing on quality craftsmanship and contemporary design.
The company works alongside designers and artisans who follow fair trade principles in their manufacturing, are conscious of the environmental impact, and attempt to bring positive influences to the communities in which they work.
Sapu, a collective of artists, designers, craftsmen and recyclers in the Indonesian town of Salatiga, work with Paguro to create innovative and contemporary designs. The artists transform redundant and unwanted materials, including recycled rubber tyre inner tubes, plastic bottles and magazines, into beautiful and unusual jewellery, bags and accessories. The end results are imaginative and finely crafted, and no two products are exactly the same, due to their hand-crafted nature. The aim is to create designs which showcase the group’s craftsmanship while working with modern materials, preserving traditional techniques which may otherwise be lost and rooting the products in the community in which they were created.
If you like individual, contemporary, eco-friendly designs, you’ll love Paguro!
